Dodgers news: Max Muncy explains how Shohei Ohtani is still having 'fun'

Currently riding a six-game winning streak, the Los Angeles Dodgers now lead the NL West by 10.5 games over the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks . The two-time defending World Series champions look to win their fifth straight division title, and sixth in the last seven years. As the Dodgers look to wrap up the division as soon as possible, manager Dave Roberts has elected to rest some of his stars. That includes two-time NL MVP Shohei Ohtani . Max Muncy , one of Ohtani's fellow veteran stars, discussed on Foul Territory what Ohtani does while out of the lineup. The show shared how Ohtani continues to have "fun" despite not playing via X, formerly Twitter.

"He had an infielder's glove on, trying to protect Dino Ebel from line drives into the dugout," said Muncy on the show Wednesday.

Ohtani sat out Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds . The two-way star didn't even enter the game as a pinch hitter, as the Dodgers essentially cruised to their sixth consecutive victory. As Los Angeles looks for their second straight series win, there's a possibility that Roberts keeps Ohtani out of the lineup as well on Wednesday evening.

Juggling the team's deep stable of stars, w ith players like Ohtani, Muncy, Mookie Betts , Freddie Freeman , and more, Roberts' focus is certainly fixated on a threepeat as World Series champions. The Dodgers would be the first team since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees to win three titles in a row. In addition to their lineup staples, the rotation is loaded with aces like Tarik Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto . With Ohtani likely to return to the mound in the coming weeks, giving him a little bit of extra rest beforehand seems like a solid plan.
