Former college football player dies at 23

Former college football player Jaymar Mundy has died, La Salle high school football announced on X. He was 23.

Mundy earned All-State honors at La Salle before going on to play at multiple FBS schools.

"To our Champion. To our Teammate. To our Friend. To our Brother. Our hearts are broken as we mourn the loss of Jaymar Mundy," La Salle football said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, teammates and all who loved him. Forever a Lancer. Forever our Brother. Rest in Peace, Jaymar."

Mundy started his college football career at Miami ( Ohio ) in 2021, appearing in three games and recording two tackles. He then transferred to Hutchinson Community College for two seasons.

Mundy appeared in 19 games across two seasons at Hutchinson, recording 21 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, an interception and a pass breakup.

A three-star JuCo prospect, Mundy signed with Western Kentucky for the 2024 season. He played in four games and finished with five tackles for the Hilltoppers.

In 2025, Mundy played for the Ohio Bobcats , appearing in five games and recording four tackles.

Ohio head coach John Hauser remembered Mundy in a post on X.

"Heartbroken," Hauser said. "Jaymar was a great person. He made everyone's day better. He cared so much about the success of his teammates. I will miss him greatly."
