Champions League still ultimate ambition for Bayern Munich, Harry Kane
FC Bayern is on a mission.
Bayern Munich enjoyed a trophy-filled campaign last season, but Harry Kane knows there is still one prize that stands above the rest for the German giants: the Champions League.
After helping Bayern secure three domestic trophies last season, the England captain is optimistic about the club's chances of making a serious run at European glory this year. With Vincent Kompany's squad continuing to develop and several quality additions strengthening the team, Kane believes Bayern has the tools to challenge for the biggest prize in European club football.
Speaking about his Champions League ambitions for the season, Kane emphasized the importance of building on last year's success while improving in the decisive moments that determine a team's fate in the competition.
"Winning the three trophies here in Germany [last season], it was a special season in that sense. The Champions League is always the ultimate goal, always the target for this club and for me, so going into this season I think we have a great opportunity. A lot of the players now have been working with Vincent Kompany for a while; we've added some great additions as well," Kane told UEFA (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). "Right now, it's just about making sure we finish as high as possible in the league phase. But, yeah, I'm feeling optimistic. I think we've proven over the last couple of years that we can be really dangerous. The goals we've scored as a team last year [were] record breaking as well. So we need a lot of the same things plus just that little bit more in the final moments – maybe a few decisions to go our way, these little details that matter."
Kane's comments highlight both Bayern's confidence and the fine margins that can separate Champions League winners from teams left wondering what might have been. Bayern demonstrated their attacking potential last season with a record-breaking goal tally, but converting that dominance into European success requires consistency, composure, and the ability to deliver under the greatest pressure.
The league phase will be an important first step, with Bayern looking to secure the strongest possible position before the knockout rounds begin. From there, the challenge will be navigating the competition's toughest tests, where a single moment can decide an entire season.
For Kane, the motivation is clear. Domestic success is important, but the Champions League remains the ultimate ambition for both the striker and his club. With Kompany's project continuing to take shape, Bayern will be hoping this is the season they finally put everything together and bring European football's biggest club prize back to Munich.
