WXV: Wales recall Lleucu George and Carys Cox to backline for USA

Wales have recalled Lleucu George and Carys Cox to their backline for Saturday's WXV Test against USA.

George reclaims the fly-half position with Keira Bevan reverting back to scrum-half in the absence of Seren Lockwood, who has been ruled out with a head injury.

Carys Cox replaces Seren Singleton on the wing having recovered from summer knee surgery.

They are the only two starting changes from the side which romped to a 50-19 victory over South Africa last Friday, while there are three new faces on the bench in Molly Reardon, Sian Jones and Nikita Prothero.

Alex Callender and Kate Williams will once again co-captain the side at Cardiff Arms Park, while Georgia Evans will win her 50th cap.

"It's great to see Keira Bevan back at nine, I thought she did extremely well at 10, but Lleucu George has got a new lease of life in training and fingers crossed, everything will just keep going," said Wales head coach Sean Lynn.

"Carys Cox will bring that athleticism, she will always look to beat the first defender, she always wants the ball in hand and her work rate off the ball is outstanding."

Speaking about Evans reaching her half century, Lynn added: "I take my hat off to Georgia.

"Some of the heat she took during the World Cup and she still goes out there, brave with that bow in her hair, I just think she's an absolute inspiration to young girls."

Lynn will be looking to make it three wins in a row on Saturday having also beaten the Barbarians in June.

But they face a USA side ranked sixth in the world and bouyed by their impressive comeback victory against Ireland last weekend.

"We know it's going to be a really tough competition, to beat Ireland in Ireland takes a good side," Lynn said.

"They've got a very good set piece, you can see that Jonathan Humphreys [former Wales and Ospreys coach] has gone in there and tightened up their pack.

"They've got individuals like Hope Rogers and their number eight Georgie Perris-Redding will captain with passion. In my eyes there's a very exciting battle there against Alex Callender."
