Parchment contributes as Canada claims FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament Title

Canada captured a one-sided 53-83 victory over Mexico in Guadalajara on Sunday, seizing the FIBA Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2026 championship.

With the win, Canada finished a perfect 5-0 in Guadalajara, securing the sole available spot in the 2028 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments.

Canada took the reins and never let up. Mexico led for just 6 seconds; the score was tied for 1 minute and 11 seconds, and Canada controlled the game for 38 minutes and 43 seconds. This presence showcased by Canada will be a sight to see come Olympic Qualifying time.

Cearah Parchment continued to be a spark plug off the bench. This time around, she posted eight points on 60% shooting, 50% from beyond the arc, as well as three rebounds. This marks her best performance since Canada's landslide win against the Philippines on August 19, when she scored nine points.

As the youngest player on Canada's roster, Parchment made her name known and now has her first senior national team experience with a major international title to show for it. Canada has now earned an automatic berth in the upcoming FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments and will compete in February 2028.
