Jake Paul's Fiancee Jutta Leerdam Shares New Video on Speedskating Future, 'Am I Retiring?'

Three-time Olympic medalist speed skater Jutta Leerdam of the Netherlands is sitting out next season but did not rule out a return to competition in the future.

Leerdam, who is engaged to boxer Jake Paul, shared the announcement in a Monday video on her YouTube channel.

"Am I retiring? One thing is for sure— you will not see me skate this season, that's for sure," Leerdam said around the 8:00 mark of the video. "I will not be competing this year, that's for sure, so you will not see me on the ice."

Leerdam added she is not ready to "fully close the door" on potentially returning to speed skating in the future.

"I'm 27. Life changes, feelings change, and I wouldn't feel comfortable saying I'm fully retiring forever," Leerdam said.

Leerdam and Paul shared the news of their engagement in 2025. Leerdam's latest announcement was shared seven months after she became an Olympic champion at the 2026 Milan Cortina Games.

She set an Olympic record and won her first Olympic gold medal with a time of 1:12.31 in the women's 1,000-meter speed skating final.

Leerdam also won silver in the women's 500m in February to mark the third Olympic medal of her career. She previously won silver in the women's 1,000m during the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

After winning her first global title during the 2017 World Junior Championships, Leerdam has won six world championship gold medals in her adult career.

Sitting out the season will sideline Leerdam for the world championships next February in Beijing. It remains to be seen if she will return to the ice in time for the 2030 Winter Olympics in the French Alps.
