Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane is expected to miss the remainder of the 2026 season due to a torn ACL, per ESPN's Adam Schefter .

Achane suffered the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs . The running back began the game with three carries for 17 yards. His last touch was a run to the left where Achane picked up 11 yards.

The running back went down after trying to cut back toward the middle of the field. He was able to walk off under his own power and remained on the sideline. It was tough to see at first where the injury occurred because it looked like a relatively normal run until he was twisted around during the tackle.

After Achane went down, he was replaced by Ollie Gordon II. The backup finished the game with 41 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. He added 14 additional yards on three receptions.

Achane is in the final year of his rookie deal. Ahead of the season, he inked a massive 4-year, $64 million deal that takes him through the 2030 season.

Miami will likely have to add some depth at running back. The Dolphins only dressed two running backs for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Jaylen Wright missed the game due to a foot injury and a stinger after not practicing Friday.

The Dolphins do have both Jarquez Hunter and Carlos Washington Jr., who could be elevated from the practice squad. Neither would be a candidate to handle a heavy workload, so it projects to be Gordon's backfield moving forward, even if Miami brings in a veteran presence.
