New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson publicly called out head coach Kellen Moore and general manager Mickey Loomis last week after a 1-4 start, and they responded with a big win over the New York Giants.
After the win, Moore said he and Benson are on the same page in their goal for the team.
"The one thing is you always have to put it in perspective, we all want the same thing," Moore told Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer . "We all want to win games ultimately. That's what we all want. We have the same goals and aspirations. And so, for our guys, I think it was just a week of really focusing on ourselves and focus on the task at hand. And I love the way our guys practiced. I thought there was physicality and energy and juice."
Speaking at the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club Luncheon, Benson took accountability for the struggles, but also asked for more from the coaching staff and front office.
"Kellen Moore and his coaches are responsible for preparing our players to perform," Benson said. "Mickey Loomis and our football staff are responsible for building a roster capable of sustained success. Our players are responsible for their preparation and execution. I am responsible for holding this organization accountable."
Whether Benson's comments inspired the performance from the Saints on Sunday is unclear, but New Orleans at least showed improvements as it looks to turn the corner.
