As if the NFL needed more unpredictability in 2026.
It's been a wild season thus far, and it's still difficult to tell which teams are truly contenders and which are legitimately bad. The Minnesota Vikings are the last undefeated team, while the Los Angeles Chargers are the league's last winless squad—which exactly no one predicted at the start of the season.
Even weekly projections have become difficult, though that won't stop us from trying.

Week 8 will begin with an intriguing matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers. Both NFC contenders are coming off of disappointing losses, but Carolina is coming off a loss of the blowout variety.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers fully exploited Carolina's league-worst run defense, and the Packers will undoubtedly try to do the same. The recent return of Josh Jacobs just might allow them to do it.
Sunday's afternoon slate will feature several matchups between playoff contenders. The Cleveland Browns' game against the Pittsburgh Steelers will determine the top spot in the AFC North, while the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos will vie for the top spot in the AFC West.
The Baltimore Ravens will have a pivotal game against the Buffalo Bills, though they may have starting quarterback Lamar Jackson back to face Josh Allen and Co.
"I think he was able to get in a little bit of work obviously towards the end of last week," Ravens head coach Jesse Minter said, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley . "I think he'll be in a decent spot, but we'll know a lot more on Wednesday."
The Atlanta Falcons will visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a game that will mean plenty in the wide-open NFC South. That's one of two Florida games that could be heavily impacted by weather on Sunday.
The week's action will be capped by a Monday night matchup that could be an NFC Championship preview.
The Chicago Bears' offense has been rolling with Caleb Williams back in the lineup, and their defense is starting to come together. However, the Seattle Seahawks just flexed their elite defense this past Sunday, and a revitalized running game could be enough to get Seattle another win.
Zach Charbonnet has been designated to return from last year's ACL tear, and rookie Jadarian Price (chest) will return to practice this week. There's no guarantee that either will suit up against Chicago, but head coach Mike Macdonald did tell reporters that one or both could return.
Oh, and the Seahawks just acquired standout guard Quenton Nelson in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.
