Nine former Colorado football players earn NFL roster spots

We're less than two weeks from the start of the 2026 NFL season. And with the preseason wrapped up, final cuts have happened for all 32 teams. The front offices and coaching staff for each team have been busy trying to figure out who will stay and who will go.

As for the former Colorado Buffaloes players, nine of them were able to make the final rosters. Here's a list of who made the cut after the 6 p.m. ET deadline.

The former Heisman Trophy winner is looking to take a step forward in his NFL journey. There was no doubt he was a lock to make the Jaguars' roster. We'll see how he performs during his second year in the league. There has been speculation whether he'll be used as a two-way player or pick his primary position. Hunter won't be alone in Duval County. Former CU defensive lineman BJ Green also made the Jags final roster.

Shedeur Sanders becomes the backup in Cleveland

After ending the season as a starter, the former Colorado QB moved into a backup role behind Deshaun Watson, who returns under center after a string of major injuries. The former fifth-rounder is likely to be a starter once again sometime later in the season. For now, the son of Deion Sanders will be on clipboard duty to support Watson and the Browns offense.

Two for Baltimore, including LaJohntay Wester

No real surprise with the Ravens locking up Wester. He had a great preseason and earned his spot on the roster for a second straight season. Baltimore also added former Colorado cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, who also enters his second season for the AFC North contender. In his tenth season, Awuzie has carved out a decent NFL career. One of the few CU players left from the Mike MacIntyre era.

The Panthers suffered a string of injuries at the wide receiver position during the course of the preseason, leaving Horn to pick up the pieces. The former Colorado standout earned his spot on Carolina's final roster and will try to contribute more than his rookie year.

Seattle keeps Colorado & NFL legacy Brady Russell

After winning a Super Bowl, the former Colorado standout two-way player Brady Russell is staying put. His uncle, Matt Russell, was an All-American linebacker at CU. He's also a senior personnel executive for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Landman will be in the City of Angels for another season. He'll be on a stacked Rams defense who just added Aaron Donald. This could be the year LA makes a run for a hometown Super Bowl.

After previous stops in New England and Denver, the former Buffs offensive lineman finds a new home. The Saints will try to give him another look in the league.
