The San Francisco 49ers are dealing with multiple injuries to key players ahead of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos, and general manager John Lynch provided a host of updates Thursday.

According to Lynch, wide receiver Mike Evans is trying to play through a rib injury.

"He is old school in his mindset, and he doesn't want to miss. … Mike will make every attempt, and we'll see where that goes," Lynch said.

As for Nick Bosa, Lynch said he is "doing well" even though "calf injuries are sometimes murky." Offensive lineman Trent Williams had something of a better prognosis, as he may practice Thursday as he deals with a shoulder injury.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan already told reporters Bosa will not play against the Broncos, so Lynch's non-commitment on an exact timeline isn't that surprising.

ESPN's Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter reported on Sept. 25 the pass-rusher was expected to be sidelined for "a few weeks."

It seems like Evans will be back much sooner even though he departed the Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals on a cart and never returned. Shanahan told reporters the injury, "shouldn't be long term, and we've got to see how it goes throughout the week."

Having Evans available against the Broncos would be key, as no other wide receiver was credited with a catch during the win over the Cardinals. Instead, quarterback Brock Purdy relied on tight end George Kittle and running back Christian McCaffrey coming out of the backfield.

The updates on Williams also seem positive even though he exited the Cardinals game in the third quarter and never returned. Vederian Lowe filled in and would likely be called upon again if Williams is out, but the starter is one of the best offensive linemen of his generation and a future Hall of Famer.

Shanahan said Williams "should be good to go by Thursday's [practice]," which Lynch reiterated with his comments.

Despite the injury concerns, the 49ers are 3-0. They will look to continue stacking wins and building momentum against the Broncos and may have both Evans and Williams available.
