Cowboys' Dak Prescott Eyes Lofty TD Goal After Breaking Tony Romo's Franchise Record

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott doesn't intend to slow down after setting a franchise record in Sunday's 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders.

Prescott notched the 249th touchdown pass of his NFL career, putting him above Tony Romo in the Cowboys' record book. He told reporters after the game he was "blessed, honored" to achieve the feat.

"As I told you earlier in the week, records are meant to be broken," he said. "This is my time to break this one. Pretty cool to do it against the team I threw my first touchdown against 10 years ago or so. Definitely humbling, something I don't take for granted. The great history of this organization, of the past quarterbacks before me…

"Super, super honored. Super thankful. God's great. Not taking it lightly. But as I told you, it's just the beginning. I want to double it and plan to play for a while, so just getting started."

Prescott dissected the Commanders secondary to the tune of 279 yards and four touchdowns through the air.

Doubling his touchdown total won't put the four-time Pro Bowler at the top of the NFL's all-time list, but he would enter impressive company. Tom Brady holds the record with 649 touchdown passes, and only four other quarterbacks have 500 or more.

Prescott's goal is pretty ambitious given his age (33) and the fact he's into his 11th season. He'll need to remain healthy and productive for a long time to approach 500 TDs.
