The New York Giants are adding veteran free-agent defensive lineman Dean Lowry to their practice squad, reports ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Lowry, a veteran of nine NFL seasons, began his NFL career as a fourth-round pick of the Green Bay Packers out of Northwestern in 2016. After seven seasons with the Packers, Lowry played one year with the Minnesota Vikings before playing the last two seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Giants general manager Joe Schoen told reporters last week that the team would add a defensive lineman before the season opener this Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.

Lowry, who is returning from a torn ACL, has played in 132 NFL games with 85 starts. His best season was in 2021 when he recorded five sacks and had five defensed passes.
