The Philadelphia Eagles will be without wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks when they host the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night due to hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively.
Philadelphia has a lengthy injury report as they look to snap a four-game losing streak. Beyond Smith and Wicks, running back Saquon Barkley is questionable to play as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury. Tight end Dallas Goedert has no game designation after logging a full practice on Saturday.
The Eagles have been hit hard this year, to say the least, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the rest of the season after doctors discovered multiple blood clots in his lungs. Right tackle Lane Johnson has retired . Guard Landon Dickerson has been out with a knee injury since Week 1 and suffered a pectoral injury Thursday during practice, but he may return Monday.
Barkley and Goedert have missed two games, and Smith will now sit his third.
All told, the season has been a nightmare. Philadelphia is 28th in points per game (17.7 PPG), and there doesn't seem to be a clear answer in sight given how shorthanded the team will be.
The silver lining is that the Eagles play in a weak NFC East and sit tied for second with the 2-4 Cowboys. The 3-2-1 New York Giants pace the division, but they've endured numerous season-ending injuries (Jaxson Dart, edge-rusher Brian Burns, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds) and may not run away with the division.
For now, the Eagles will forge ahead and hope to break their slide. Darius Cooper, who has caught half of his eight receptions for touchdowns, figures to be the interim WR1. Rookie Makai Lemon should also see his fair share of looks.
Kickoff in Philadelphia on Monday is set for 8:15 p.m. ET.
