"We won't win a game unless we figure out how to not beat ourselves," he told reporters. "Just so many unforced errors, so many things that are not in alignment with what we want to do, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. Give up a big return to start. Lose the kicker covering on that kickoff coverage and that comes out for a big gain. We didn't do enough. I thought out defense did enough to keep us in the game, but anytime we'd string a little bit of momentum we'd turn it over, take a negative, we jump offsides on a 4th-and-3 to put it to a 4th-and-8. We have a lot to look at ourselves on, and we have to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to improve."
The Rams managed just 286 yards of offense, had a turnover, failed to convert a two-point conversion after they opted not to kick the extra point after Blake Grupe was hurt and were 0-for-2 on fourth downs. They lost against a Cardinals team that didn't score a single touchdown but finished 6-of-6 on field goals.
The Rams were a trendy Super Bowl pick after a busy offseason that included the addition of superstar edge-rusher Myles Garrett and the return of Aaron Donald. Thus far, however, the Rams have pretty massively underachieved, even taking into account some issues with injuries.
Losing against a Cardinals team that came into Sunday with just one win was a pretty clear indicator that something has gone awry in Los Angeles.
