Micah Parsons reportedly not expected to return from ACL tear for Packers-Cowboys game Sunday night

Sunday night's clash against his former Cowboys had been circled as a potential return date for Parsons from his torn ACL.

Micah Parsons won't return to football this week to face his former Dallas Cowboys.

That's per ESPN's Adam Schefter, who reported Monday that the Green Bay Packers don't expect their All-Pro pass rusher to practice this week ahead of Sunday night's game against Dallas.

Parsons has been sidelined since sustaining a torn ACL in Week 15 last season. He said in August that it was "very realistic" that he could return by Week 6 to play the Cowboys, confirming reports that the Dallas game was a potential target date.

Now, that's reportedly off the table. Per Schefter, uncertainty remains regarding when he returns, but there's hope that Parsons could make his 2026 debut sometime in October.

Parsons suffered his injury 14 games into his tenure with the Packers after arriving via a blockbuster trade from the Cowboys. He had surgery to repair the torn ACL and meniscus in his left knee.

A three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowler in four seasons with the Cowboys, Parsons maintained his elite form in Green Bay prior to his injury, tallying 12.5 sacks, 27 quarterback hits and 12 tackles for loss in 14 games. He was named first-team All-Pro despite missing Green Bay's final three games.

When healthy, Parsons is the anchor of Green Bay's defense and a significant part of the team's hopes to compete for the NFC North and a Super Bowl. Those hopes were dampened by a 1-2 start that featured poor offensive play. Green Bay has since won two straight games, including a 31-7 blowout of the rival Chicago Bears on Sunday to improve to 3-2 and remain on track to compete for a playoff spot.

Parsons' return this week would have bolstered Green Bay's playoff prospects. But, as of Monday, it remains unclear when Parsons will play again.
