Watch: Kyler Murray lobs up interception on first pass attempt as a Viking

Kyler Murray probably had something else in mind when thinking about what his first pass in a Vikings uniform would look like.

On the second play from scrimmage in Sunday's season opener against the Packers at U.S. Bank Stadium, Murray had an unblocked blitzer bearing down on him in an empty, five-wide set. He lofted a deep ball for Jauan Jennings that was easily picked off by Green Bay cornerback Keisean Nixon .

Vikings right guard Will Fries appeared to mess up his assignment on the play — and wound up on his back in the process.

That's not quite the kind of first impression Murray was hoping to make in front of his new home crowd. The Vikings' defense mostly held up on the ensuing possession, but the Packers converted a 59-yard field goal to take an early 3-0 lead.

It's the 61st career interception in 88 NFL games for Murray, who has never thrown more than 12 picks in a season. The good news is that there's a lot of game left for him to shake off that poor start.
