Overtime in Kansas City. Sunday Night Football had a thriller on its hands.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs closed out the weekend with an exciting 33-30 overtime victory over Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts.

The Chiefs, led by their two-time NFL MVP quarterback, entered Sunday night's matchup as a 6.5-point favorite over the Colts at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, per Fanduel Sportsbook .

A near game-sealing fumble by the Indianapolis Colts in overtime briefly had fans celebrating a premature victory, the Chiefs got it done their way, running down the clock and converting two field goals to seal the overtime win.

After missing the playoffs last season and losing Mahomes in Week 15 to a torn ACL and LCL, the Chiefs look like they are back to their Super Bowl-winning form, kicking off the 2026 season 2-0.

Jones and the Colts opened the contest with a 6:35 drive down the field, connecting with Tyler Warren for a short touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead.

The rest of the first quarter was a nightmare for Indianapolis, allowing a Chiefs field goal before Jones threw an interception. Mahomes capitalized on the turnover with a quick touchdown connection to Travis Kelce to close out the first quarter with Kansas City leading 10-7.

Mahomes added a touchdown pass to Xavier Worthy, but a missed 51-yard field goal and a big quarter from the Colts helped Indianapolis overcome Kansas City's strong first quarter.

Indianapolis added two field goals in the second quarter before Jonathan Taylor ran in a 24-yard touchdown, giving the Colts a 20-17 lead at the break.

A nearly seven-minute drive out of halftime ended with Jalen Royals catching a touchdown pass for the Chiefs on a clutch fourth-down play, giving Kansas City a four-point lead heading into the final quarter.

After the Chiefs nailed a short 28-yard field goal to open the fourth, Taylor ran in his second touchdown of the night to tie things up at 27, where it would stay to send the game into overtime.

Kansas City got the ball first in overtime, setting up Harrison Butker for a 31-yard field goal to take a three-point lead.

Indianapolis' Laquon Treadwell pulled in a 48-yard pass from Jones on the Colts' opening drive of overtime that nearly was fumbled away for a Chiefs victory. After review, the call was overturned, determining he was down by contact and keeping the drive alive. Spencer Shrader then knocked down a field goal to tie it up once more.

Giving Mahomes the ball back with enough time to march down the field sealed the Colts' fate, with Butker nailing the game-winning field goal after a 46-yard drive.

Kansas City will face the 0-2 Miami Dolphins on the road next Sunday, while Indianapolis hosts the Houston Texans, also 0-2, the same day.
