Tyreek Hill Makes Cryptic Post After Rashee Rice, Tyquan Thornton Injuries as Chiefs Beat Raiders
Might the Kansas City Chiefs consider a reunion with former wideout Tyreek Hill?
Might the Kansas City Chiefs consider a reunion with former wideout Tyreek Hill?
On Sunday, the team saw both Rashee Rice ( hamstring ) and Tyquan Thornton (ankle) leave the game with injuries, and Thornton's was gruesome enough that it might cost him the remainder of the season.
Meanwhile, free agent Tyreek Hill sent out this cryptic post during the team's 30-27 win over the Las Vegas Raiders:
And Mike Silver of The Athletic reported Sunday that a number of Chiefs would be good with bringing Hill back, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes:
ESPN's Nate Taylor reported that Kansas City had interest in signing Hill even before the Rice and Thornton injuries.
Hill, 32, is recovering from a severe knee injury last season that included ACL and LCL tears. He spent his first six seasons in Kansas City and won a Super Bowl with the team, alongside earning Pro Bowl honors six times and first-team All-Pro honors three times.
He spent the past four seasons with the Miami Dolphins but was released in the offseason following Miami's roster purge as the team transitioned away from a number of veterans, including Hill and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
Just how much Hill has left in the tank remains to be seen given his age and the severity of his injury. And he wouldn't necessarily be a short-term option for the Chiefs. But if Thornton is indeed done for the season—Andy Reid told reporters after the game it "doesn't look good"—and Rice is facing a long-term hamstring issue, Hill would make sense as a signing whenever he's healthy enough to make his return.
