New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore reacted to being called out by team owner Gayle Benson after compiling a 1-4 record to begin the 2026 season.

"It's where we're at," Moore said Wednesday, via Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. "We're 1-4, missed a few opportunities right there. We all want the same thing. We're all shooting for that. We've all got the same objectives and we just gotta get better moving forward."

After the Saints suffered a 23-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5, Benson issued a warning to Moore and general manager Mickey Loomis.

"Kellen Moore and his coaches are responsible for preparing our players to perform," Benson said Tuesday, per NOLA.com's Rod Walker and Matthew Paras . "Mickey Loomis and our football staff are responsible for building a roster capable of sustained success. Our players are responsible for their preparation and execution. I am responsible for holding this organization accountable."

The Saints wrapped up a 6-11 finish in 2025, but won four of their final five games and were looking to take a step forward this season with an offense led by second-year quarterback Tyler Shough and free-agent addition Travis Etienne.

New Orleans' defense has struggled mightily, ranking No. 31 among all teams by allowing 30.2 points per game. The Saints have also given up 361.0 total yards on a weekly basis.

While Moore's offense is averaging a modest 23.6 points per game, issues will ball security have prevented the unit from overcoming the team's defensive woes. New Orleans has committed 11 turnovers, tied for the second-most in the league.

The Saints will attempt to get back on track in Week 6, as they'll face off against a New York Giants squad that has opened the year with a 3-1-1 record.
