Kirk Cousins Says Tom Brady Has Been 'Unbelievable' Resource for Raiders QBs Ahead of 2026 Season

Kirk Cousins says minority team owner Tom Brady has been "very available" as a resource for the Las Vegas Raiders' quarterbacks in the lead-up to the 2026 season.

Cousins told reporters Wednesday he has regularly reached out to Brady this offseason while leading a quarterback room staffed by rookie backup Fernando Mendoza and third-stringer Aidan O'Connell.

"I've really enjoyed having him as a resource," Cousins said (h/t Vegas Sports Today's Sean Zittel). "I mean, when I first got here, I was like, 'Wait, so I can just text him, and he'll give me 23 years of pro football experience, he'll text me back?' They're like, 'Yeah.'"

Cousins continued, "You can sit in a meeting with Fernando and Aidan and say, 'Why don't we just ask Tom what he would do?'

"Sometimes, you're like, is he going to get back to us in a day or two? And many times, it's two minutes, and we've got a response. So that's been a joy to have a resource."

Mendoza previously mentioned Brady's involvement in the Raiders quarterback room during an interview with Front Office Sports' David Rumsey earlier this summer.

"We had a question about a specific concept, and we were all there," Mendoza told Rumsey in June. "Kirk was able to voice memo Tom really quick, and he got back to us, and it was a great answer that we took a lot from."

General manager John Spytek said in February he expected Brady to be involved with the Raiders' decision-making both in free agency and the draft, through which the franchise brought in Cousins and Mendoza, respectively.

Schrager indicated last week on the Pat McAfee Show Brady could also have had a role in the decision to name Cousins starter over Mendoza.

"As long as Tom Brady was a part of this, and I'm told this year he has been very vocal and has been a part of it, they weren't going to rush their first overall pick," Schrager said.

Cousins will now help that guidance from Brady this offseason will pay off with a Week 1 win against the Miami Dolphins when the season officially kicks off Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET in Las Vegas.
