The Washington Commanders received a positive update regarding injured quarterback Jayden Daniels on Monday.

Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters that Daniels will return to practice this week as he continues to recover from an elbow injury and will travel to London for a Week 4 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts.

Daniels, 25, dislocated his elbow just before halftime of the team's Week 2 loss against the Dallas Cowboys. He tripped as he was going into a dropback and put his left arm out to break his fall, bending it awkwardly.

It was the second time he's dislocated that elbow in the past two seasons, also doing so in a Week 9 loss against the Seattle Seahawks last November. He missed three games last season with the injury and ultimately reaggravated it later in the season, causing the Commanders to shut him down for the final four games.

He did not suffer any fractures or ligament issues with his current injury, however, and the Commanders didn't put him on injured reserve.

Washington doesn't need to rush him back, of course, with a solid veteran in Marcus Mariota able to start in his stead. The 32-year-old was excellent in a Week 3 win over the Seattle Seahawks, throwing for 183 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

But a healthy Daniels is one of the most dynamic players in the sport and seriously increases Washington's ceiling. While an exact timeline for his return is unknown, it sounds as though he'll be back sooner rather than later.
