Giants reportedly releasing WR Odell Beckham Jr. 3 games into his reunion with team

Odell Beckham Jr. 's second go-round with the New York Giants has reportedly come to an end.

The Giants are releasing the 33-year-old Beckham, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday . Beckham, who became NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and a three-time Pro Bowler during his first stint in New York, couldn't conjure that form in his late-career homecoming. Although he earned a spot on the 53-man roster this summer and then reclaimed his fabled No. 13 jersey , he didn't make a noticeable on-field impact in his three regular-season games.

In that span, he was targeted once and didn't log a catch. Beckham scattered 20 offensive snaps along the way, with just six of those coming this past Sunday in a 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans , according to Pro Football Focus.

Also on Tuesday, the Giants signed Braxton Berrios to their active roster, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Beckham's return to the Giants made for a feel-good story. New York is where he became a star and where he made his iconic ladder-climbing, one-handed grab on "Sunday Night Football" in 2014 .

The former LSU star sat out during the 2025 season, including while he served a six-game suspension from the league for a failed PED test . He also was out of the league in 2022 — after he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee during a Super Bowl LVI victory with the Los Angeles Rams — and resurfaced with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. That season, he caught 35 balls for 565 yards and a trio of scores.

Then came an unproductive nine-game foray with the Miami Dolphins in 2024. During that stretch, he had nine catches and 55 receiving yards. When a fake social media account reported in August 2025 that OBJ was retiring, he took to X to let everyone know that he was "not done yet."

With the Giants in 2014-18, Beckham accrued 390 receptions, 5,476 receiving yards and 44 receiving touchdowns. Of his five career 1,000-yard receiving seasons, four took place with the organization, which drafted him 12th overall in 2014.

The thought was that Beckham was healthier in 2026 than he has been in years past, plus that his speed work and drop in weight could set him up for renewed success with his old team .

But a promising and nostalgic preseason didn't translate to regular-season numbers. Beckham, who's still the Giants' second all-time leading receiver, was involved sparingly in an offense that's currently reorienting behind backup quarterback Jameis Winston , following the season-ending knee injury Jaxson Dart sustained in Week 2 . The Giants traded for former Minnesota Vikings first-round pick J.J. McCarthy on Monday.
