New Aaron Donald Rumors Reveal Potential Snap Count for Rams Star After Comeback from NFL Retirement

Aaron Donald is making his return to the Los Angeles Rams after a two-year retirement from the NFL, but don't expect a full workload from the future Hall of Famer.

According to Albert Breer of SI.com, "[The team's depth on the defensive line] should allow the Rams to be judicious with Donald over the course of the season. My sense is the plan would be to play him 30-40 snaps per game, which is a lot less than he played in his prime. I know how confident the staff is in him, but he's also 35, and it's a long year. And that's why I kept asking if he might delay his return to October or November. The answer I got back every time was that Donald wanted to be a part of the journey in full."

The Rams are indeed loaded up front, with Myles Garrett, Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart available off the edge, Poona Ford at nose tackle and Donald joining Kobie Turner and Braden Fiske at defensive end in the team's 3-4 base scheme.

Having Donald—a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, 10-time Pro Bowler and eight-time first-team All-Pro selection—in a rotational role is quite the luxury. But it's also the best bet to ensure he holds up throughout the season after two years away from the sport.
