QB Report Cards for 2026 NFL Week 3

The NFL is unpredictable, because every week of play is a fresh start. This fact also applies to the quarterback position. The Washington Commanders shouldn't have been able to knock off the Seattle Seahawks without Jayden Daniels in the lineup. Marcus Mariota and Co. did. The Cleveland Browns aren't supposed to have a winning record at this point. They do, with Deshaun Watson leading the way. Kirk Cousins was serving as the bridge quarterback to this year's No. 1 overall overall pick, Fernando Mendoza. He's currently playing like the old Cousins, and the Raiders are undefeated. These examples are exactly why Bleacher Report grades every quarterback performance each week to see how the position continues to progress across the league.

Score : 36-30 loss vs. San Francisco 49ers

Stat Line : 38 of 52 for 280 yards, two touchdowns and a rushing score

Jacoby Brissett has been asked to shoulder too much responsibility since taking over as the Arizona Cardinals' QB1. He's thrown 40 or more passes in eight times over the franchise's last 15 contests. That number jumps to 11 when the bar is slightly lowered to 35 attempts.

Conversely, Brissett's 5.6 yards per attempt ranks dead last among quarterbacks who have started all three games this season. Arizona can move the ball, but the Cardinals lack explosive plays, which makes their lives far more difficult when facing a talented opponent.

Arizona compounded problems Sunday with 10 penalties for 86 yards.

"Against good teams, it's like being a death wish," Brissett told reporters . "Against good teams, you can't do that. You can't beat yourself and try to beat them."

Stat Line : 18 of 25 for 256 yards, a touchdown and an interception

The Atlanta Falcons sat on the edge with the team starting into the pit of despair after a 0-2 start. Kevin Stefanski's squad was staring at the possibility of losing its third game during a primetime contest against the Green Bay Packers. Instead, Michael Penix Jr. made his first start of the season and provided exactly what the Falcons needed.

After a shaky start, where Penix threw an interception, the third-year quarterback grew more comfortable with each passing offensive possession. He missed four of his first five passes, then completed 17 of his final 20 attempts.

"He wanted to get back out here when he felt comfortable [after last season's ACL injury], and I respect that," Falcons running back Bijan Robinson told reporters . "He looked comfortable [Thursday], and he was balling."

Stat Line : 15 of 20 for 186 yards and two touchdowns; six carries for 50 yards

The Baltimore Ravens found themselves in a second-half shootout with the Dallas Cowboys and emerged with a last second victory thanks to a 56-yard Tyler Loop field goal. But it's what led to that final kick which made the outcome more impressive.

A 27-yard connection between Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers led to the field-goal attempt. The Ravens pieced together the scoring drive in six seconds. It's the quickest game-winning drive in NFL history.

"It is something we have been practicing since camp," Jackson told reporters . "We were practicing it almost every day after camp, probably mixing [it] in practice sometimes. We were surprised because we did not go over that all week. We were not expecting to be in a situation like that, but [offensive coordinator Declan Doyle] called the play. Everyone was on the same timing."

In total, the Ravens and Cowboys combined for 35 second-half points.

Score : 24-16 win vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Stat Line : 16 of 26 for 204 yards, two interceptions and a fumble lost; eight carries for 22 yards and two touchdowns

Josh Allen is human after all. The Buffalo Bills quarterback performed like the best football player on the planet during the first two week of the 2026 campaign. The Bills were forced to come back from a 10-point first-quarter deficit in Week 3 to ensure a 3-0 start. Allen needed plenty of help thanks to his three-turnover performance.

In total, the Bills had five turnovers, committed 10 penalties and lost the time-of-possession battle.

"You're not going to win very many games turning the ball over that much," Allen told reporters . "Sometimes the ball bounces the other way. That's what happens. ... We've got to clean a lot of stuff up."

Stat Line : 26 of 48 for 291 yards, a touchdown and an interception

The Carolina Panthers offense was flying high through the first two weeks of play. The unit set a franchise record for points scored to start a season and ranked among league's top five offenses. The Cleveland Browns defense made life miserable in Week 3, though.

Cleveland sacked Young three times and hit him on eight different occasions. The Browns pressured the quarterback on 30 of his 47 dropbacks, according to Syed Schemes' Tej Seth . Carolina struggled significantly in high-leverage situations, too. Young and Co. finished a combined four for 18 during their third- and fourth-down attempts.

Young still helped his squad gain a fourth-quarter lead. In the end, the third-year quarterback was pressured, had his arm hit and threw an interception to end the squad's hopes. He didn't come out of the game unscathed, either.

"Yeah, there were a couple of ball he'd normally hit," head coach Dave Canales said when asked about Young battling through a lower-body injury. "I'm wondering if he was working through something to find his base and get those balls out. He can make those throws."

Score : 30-27 loss vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Stat Line : 28 of 37 for 282 yards, three touchdowns and a fumble lost

Joe Burrow is the solution for the Cincinnati Bengals. Too bad his teammates continue to create problems.

For example, a blown one-on-one block by right guard Dalton Risner led to a sack that caused Burrow to fumble and ended the team's chances to emerge with a victory.

"Guys got to take ownership of their roles, got to take ownership of themselves, and just be smart situational football players," Burrow told reporters after the game.

The quarterback added , "Self-inflicted. Just like last week with the penalties, we just can't shoot ourselves in the foot like that. You can't win in this league when you do that. It's really hard. It's really hard. We could have overcome it, but it's really hard to win like that."

As Locked on Bengals' Jake Liscow noted , Burrow continues to deliver in crunch time. Others let him down.

Stat Line : 16 of 30 for 144 yards and two touchdowns; 11 carries for 45 yards

Deshaun Watson can breathe easier this week. Back-to-back victories will certainly alleviate pressure for the Cleveland Browns to replace their current starting quarterback. Furthermore, the team's fanbase didn't turn on its QB1. Instead, the preseason boos turned into cheers.

"There was one moment, I got teary-eyed," Watson told reporters . "I was just feeling that energy. I put so much work into getting back here. To be in this moment here. To be able to show, I can finished these drives, finish these games and get Ws for the city and the organization." Watson didn't perform as well as a passer compared to his Week 2 outing. In fact, he completed 53.3 percent of his attempts. However, his ability to extend the play and find open receivers when it mattered helped lift the Browns to their first 2-1 start in three years.

Stat Line : 25 of 40 for 276 yards and a touchdown

Dak Prescott did enough to eventually win Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. However, the Dallas Cowboys' coaching staff made a tactical error by having Brandon Aubrey kicked the ball into the end zone after the team's game-tying field goal.

In doing so, the Baltimore Ravens got the ball at the 35-yard line without any time running off the clock. Two plays later, the Cowboys had lost, with a long flight home from Brazil awaiting them.

Though Prescott looks at it differently. The Cowboys did tie the game, which should have gone into overtime. However, Dallas failed to score a touchdown on its final drive despite having the ball inside the Ravens' 5-yard line.

"Frustrated as hell. Embarrassed," Prescott said after the game . "We don't call ourselves the best offense, 'GOTI,' and we get down there to the 1-yard line and don't put it in. It just sucks. Not a lot of words or full explanation of it. Defense shouldn't have even been in that position. Those guys are over there saying, 'It's on us.' Absolutely not. We've got to put the game away, period."

Stat Line : 17 of 34 for 186 yards, two touchdowns, rushing score and an interception

Move over Jim Harbaugh. The Denver Broncos' Bo Nix is now deserving of the "Captain Comeback" nickname after leading yet another Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.

Since the start of the 2025 campaign, Nix leads the NFL with seven fourth-quarter comebacks, nine game-winning drives and 20 touchdowns when trailing by a score, according to NFL Researcher .

Of course, Nix and Co. have to dig themselves into a hole before securing a second-half victory. The Broncos quarterback threw for 53 yards during Sunday's first half, and the Rams owned a 16-0 lead going into intermission.

However, a different version of Nix shows up as the game progresses.

"A [basketball] shooter might miss three shots or whatever," wide receiver Courtland Sutton told reporters , "but once they see that one go in, it allows them to have that confidence to keep shooting. And then next thing you know, they look up and they've got 30 points. So I think that you have to have that shooter's mentality, and our mindset is trying to figure out a way to make that first one go in faster."

Stat Line : 25 of 32 for 269 yards and two touchdowns

Jared Goff was perfect against the New York Jets. Specifically, the Detroit Lions quarterback finished 14 of 14 passing when facing the Jets' blitz packages .

Goff serves as the archetype as a distributor in today's NFL. His understanding of Detroit's system, where to go with the ball and post-snap decision-making is exactly what a team wants in its quarterback. The Lions' signal-caller may not provide much more, but he's fantastic at what he does.

"I thought it was just a headsy, smart game," head coach Dan Campbell told reporters about Goff's performance. "... He was just being patient with it. Then, he started to hit some [deeper shots]. ... We put a lot on him, and he's just playing at a high level."

Stat Line : 28 of 53 for 312 yards, two touchdowns and an interception

The Green Bay Packers offense is a mess, and Jordan Love isn't doing anything to make it better.

First, the Packers' offensive line is beset by injuries. Two new starters were in the lineup Thursday. The group allowed only one sack. However, the Atlanta Falcons generated 12 quarterback hits.

Second, Green Bay's ground game is basically non-existent. Matt LaFleur's squad already fielded the league's worst rushing attack through the first two weeks. The Falcons held them to 17 rushing yards. Finally, Love isn't performing well.

"I think to start, my footwork in the pocket. I think making accurate throws, my decision-making and reads, going through those things quickly. I think just the feeling I have right now is not good," Love told reporters . " … There's always going to be plays where there's going to be pressure. Sometimes you might have a little more time in the pocket, but as a quarterback, I've got to operate a lot faster and be more accurate and find completions to help us as an offense."

Score : 19-17 loss vs. Indianapolis Colts

Stat Line : 16 of 27 for 167 yards and a touchdown

CJ Stroud is failing the Houston Texans and vice versa.

The Texans entered this season with the knowledge that Stroud reached the point in his career where a contract extension could be on the table. But the organization still didn't know whether the 2023 second overall draft pick deserved consideration as a franchise quarterback.

Through three games, Stroud hasn't looked the part. The team's 0-3 start isn't doesn't fall solely on its quarterback, of course. The Texans once again didn't properly address their offensive interior, which makes life even more difficult on Stroud. Unless another turnaround occurs, like it did after last season's 0-3 beginning, the Texans may have to reconsider their options.

"These are the types of games we're supposed to win," Stroud told reporters . "We fought, but, at the end of the day, there's a lot of things that need to be fixed."

Stat Line : 24 of 36 for 235 yards, a touchdown, an interception and two lost fumbles

Daniel Jones wasn't good enough, yet the Indianapolis Colts found a way to beat the rival Houston Texans. Shane Steichen's squad hasn't been able to say that for some time.

Indianapolis' last-ranked defense came to play and held the Texans to 223 yards. Jones made some difficult throws, particularly under duress. But a trend has emerged through the first three weeks where the veteran quarterback's decision-making comes into question, his ball-handling is suspect and turnovers occur. Jones has produced at least one turnover in three straight games, with three during Sunday's contest. He didn't have a similar stretch at any point last season.

"Obviously, you cant turn the ball over like that," Jones told reporters . "I can't put the team in that position. I certainly understand how important that is as a quarterback. But the game goes on and you gotta move on, play the next play and execute."

Score : 35-6 win vs. New England Patriots

Stat Line : 19 of 29 for 182 yards, three touchdowns and an interception

Trevor Lawrence's maturation as an NFL quarterback became apparent when he broke free toward the end zone and kneeled at the 1-yard line instead of scoring a touchdown so the Jacksonville Jaguars could milk the clock in the fourth quarter.

"When I broke free and nobody tackled me, it's something we talk about all the time, potentially, in those situations to keep the clock running," Lawrence told reporters . "That was too much time (left) when I looked at the clock and saw eight minutes left. But I was just trying to use as much clock as possible and give [the New England Patriots] as few chances as possible to get back into the game." Lawrence didn't need to put up huge numbers thanks to the New England Patriots' mistake-filled performance. At the same time, he threw for three scores and understood situational football. His one turnover even came off a defended pass.

Stat Line : 20 of 24 for 246 yards, two touchdowns and an interception

Patrick Mahomes holds himself and his team to a high standard and rightly so. At his very best, Mahomes can make a strong argument as the greatest quarterback of all time. So, a two-touchdown victory against the Miami Dolphins didn't necessarily make Mahomes happy.

"I have to continue to work the pocket and find places to throw," the two-time NFL MVP told reporters . "That's about me finding my feel for the pocket in some of those critical situations. ... We have to get better as an offense. ... We're not going to be mad about winning, but we're going to look at the tape hard and find ways to get better next week."

The Kansas City Chiefs' play-action passing game is one area where everything is clicking. According to ESPN Insights , Mahomes completed all 14 of his play-action passing attempts Sunday.

Score : 35-27 win vs. New Orleans Saints

Stat Line : 22 of 33 for 248 yards and three touchdowns

Fernando Mendoza may not see the field during his rookie season, not when Las Vegas Raiders remain undefeated and Kirk Cousins is tied for the the NFL lead with nine touchdown passes.

The Raiders find themselves in the best-case scenario, where the veteran bridge is playing like a legitimate starting quarterback and this year's No. 1 overall pick isn't being rushed onto the field.

According to Shawn Syed of Sumer Sports , Cousins posted the highest EPA when pressured over the last two weeks of play. The Raiders quarterback definitely benefited greatly from Brock Bowers return to the lineup Sunday. Bowers caught 10 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

"He's an outstanding player," Cousins said during a postgame interview . "Klint [Kubiak] did a great job with the scheme to give him opportunities. I'm still learning him. We don't have as many banked reps as I would like. But I think I can get accustomed to a guy like that pretty quickly."

Stat Line : 20 of 34 for 226 yards, a touchdown and an interception

The Los Angeles Chargers have been a disaster to start this season. Mainly, the team's offense has been disappointing.

Mike McDaniel's hire this offseason was supposed to open up the offense and make life easier on quarterback Justin Herbert. Instead, the opposite has happened. No one appears to be on the same page.

During McDaniel's time as the Miami Dolphins head coach/offensive play-caller, his team was known for its vertical passing attack. Herbert has one of the NFL's biggest arms, yet he's not connecting with targets down the field. According to NFL Researcher , Herbert has completed only two of 12 pass attempts of 20-plus air yards. To make matters worse, three of the quarterback's interceptions have come during those throws.

"That's something that we have to figure out," Herbert responded when asked why the offense continues to play poorly.

Stat Line : 30 of 55 passing for 390 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions

Will the real Matthew Stafford stand up? Last season, Stafford played the quarterback position at a higher level than anyone else. This year, the 38-year-old veteran has been far more inconsistent.

Stafford can still put up numbers, as evidenced by 390 passing yards against the Denver Broncos' defense. He did so without top wide receiver Puka Nacua in the lineup. At the same time, Stafford is making decisions and throws he shouldn't.

Sunday's contest turned on a Talanoa Hufanga pick-six. Stafford threw another interception on the final play of the game as well, which Hufanga also snagged. Both turnovers occurred when pressured. Stafford completed only nine of 23 passes when the Broncos were breathing down his neck, per Sumer Sports' Shawn Syed . His four interceptions are tied for the league's second-most through three weeks of play.

Score : 24-10 loss vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Stat Line : 20 of 36 for 210 yards, an interception and a fumble lost; nine carries for 56 yards

Said Brooks , "I think we fought until the end. We had a chance to win that game. The next step for us is learning how to win those games." The Dolphins find themselves in an obvious evaluation season, and quarterback Malik Willis doesn't have the help around him to prove whether he's a legitimate long-term starter. Miami already lacked offensive weapons. The Dolphins' best offensive player, De'Von Achane, suffered a knee injury Sunday. As a result, Willis led the team with 56 rushing yards. Beyond that, the quarterback really doesn't have the necessary pieces around him and his play suffers.

Score : 23-16 win vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Stat Line : 15 of 29 for 168 yards, a touchdown and an interception

Kyler Murray made a full debut Sunday as the Minnesota Vikings' starting quarterback. The former Arizona Cardinal experienced a false start in Week 1 due to a concussion. Now, Murray is at the helm of the 3-0 Vikings and brings different much-needed qualities.

Murray certainly wasn't perfect against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He completed just over 50 percent of his passes and threw a tipped interception. However, his ability to run and drive the ball deep are both positives. As for the latter, Murray completed all three of his first-half deep passes for 93 yards, including a 41-yard touchdown connection with Jordan Addison, per NFL Next Gen Stats .

Minnesota has gotten off to an undefeated start thanks to its aggressive defense. Murray has the potential to unlock the offense and allow the team to play complementary football.

"Let's call it what it is: We're going to need to play better on offense to be the type of team that I think we can become," head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters .

Score : 35-6 loss vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Stat Line : 14 of 25 for 199 yards, two interceptions and a fumble lost

Drake Maye looks completely lost through the first three weeks of play. Last season's MVP runner-up is a shell of the performer that helped lead the New England Patriots to a Super Bowl. Now, he's a hindrance.

Maye turned the ball over three times against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Since the start of last season's postseason (seven games), the 24-year-old signal-caller threw 10 interceptions and fumbled nine times, according to CBS Sports' Doug Clawson . The belief in what Maye is seeing and letting throws rip simply isn't evident.

"Try to show him the looks. Try to give him, me personally, I try to talk to him about just taking the ball and putting it where it's supposed to go," head coach Mike Vrabel stated when asked how he can help Maye. "... He's a young quarterback. I want him to go and be energetic and talk to him about can't be a robot here. We got to go. And we saw some times where he extended plays and kept his eyes downfield or made plays, and then also we just can't turn it over at the rate that we're turning it over, especially down in the red zone."

Score : 35-27 loss vs. Las Vegas Raiders

Stat Line : 29 of 42 for 255 yards, four touchdowns, an interception and two fumbles lost

Tyler Shough is talented, but he's yet to piece together a complete full-game effort this season.

All of the physical tools and capabilities are present. The second-year second-caller must become more consistent, though. Furthermore, three turnovers in one game is simply too many. It's the second time this season that Shough had as many giveaways. Unsurprisingly, the New Orleans Saints lost both contests.

Shough keeps the team competitive. At the same time, he's missed opportunities.

"We're just a couple of plays away," the quarterback told reporters . "... We can clean that up for sure. There's a lot of stuff we can learn from, including finishing strong, and that starts with myself protecting the ball."

Jameis Winston didn't do enough for the New York Giants to beat the Tennessee Titans. That's OK. He didn't to.

The Giants benefited from a ground-and-pound approach, a strong defensive effort and multiple Titans mistakes. Tennessee didn't pieced together a drive longer than three plays until the team's seventh offensive possession. Winston simply needed to avoid a significant mistake, which he did.

"Jameis did what was required in this game," head coach John Harbaugh told reporters . "The first thing you have to do is what's necessary, what's required. After that, then you can do what's possible. Then maybe the impossible becomes possible."

As a result, Winston will remain the Giants' starting quarterback.

Stat Line : 31 of 37 for 321 yards, three touchdowns and a fumble lost

Geno Smith has been everything the New York Jets hoped he'd be and more. He doesn't even look like the quarterback from last year, when he was arguably the worst starter.

Smith made multiple pinpoint passes Sunday against the Detroit Lions, because his targets on all three touchdowns didn't have much, if any, separation. Unfortunately, his performance was marred by a poor outing by the New York Jets' offensive line, which surrendered five sacks.

Still, the Jets are highly competitive, because their veteran quarterback is playing well.

"It makes it really easy to play receiver," rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq told reporters . "He's a great quarterback."

Score : 30-27 win vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Stat Line : 19 of 34 for 292 yards, three touchdowns and an interception

Aaron Rodgers can still get the job done. He simply needs help, which he hasn't necessarily gotten through the first two weeks of play. The Pittsburgh Steelers offense looked different in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Steelers' front five gave Rodgers time. According to ESPN's Benjamin Solak , Rodgers average time to throw Sunday was the highest he joined the Steelers. In turn, the veteran quarterback pushed the ball down the field more often, with 15 attempts of 10 or more air yards.

"We had some explosion in the offense back, especially in the run game," Rodgers told reporters . "We did better on third downs, so we had more opportunities." Jaylen Warren's 127 rushing yards helped created a perfect symbiotic relationship for the Steelers to maximize the offense's potential.

Stat Line : 15 of 27 for 297 yards and four touchdowns

At this very moment, the San Francisco 49ers' Brock Purdy is playing the quarterback position better than everyone else.

As The Ringer's Sheil Kapadia noted , Purdy produced this season's two highest EPA-per-pass-play performances during the last two weeks. Currently, the Niners' signal-caller is tied for the league-lead with nine touchdown passes. His 93.8 QBR and 133.1 quarterback rating is first among his contemporaries. Purdy is operating Kyle Shanahan's offense at the highest level.

"Kyle's confidence in Brock is incredibly high," tight end George Kittle told reporters . "Brock's confidence is incredibly high. It's different. We can be in a Wednesday practice and Brock might miss a pass, and, I think, in years past, Kyle would be frustrated with him for not hitting that pass.

"Now, Kyle is like, 'Nah, he'll hit it on game day.' It's fun to see that."

Score : 33-31 loss vs. Washington Commanders

Stat Line : 31 of 45 for 379 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions

The Washington Commanders ruined Sam Darnold's return to the Seattle Seahawks lineup. Darnold missed the second week of the season after suffering a glute injury early in the team's season debut. During Sunday's contest, he looked too much like the version that predated his time in Seattle.

To be fair, the quarterback didn't receive much help. Seattle's ground game managed only 44 yards. Jadarian Price, Emmanuel Wilson and George Holani averaged 2.3 yards per carry. As a result, Darnold's 45 pass attempts were his most since joining the Seahawks.

While Darnold put up significant numbers and threw four scoring passes, each of his second-half interceptions led to Washington touchdowns, including a pick-six. Seattle wouldn't have been competitive Sunday if not for Darnold. He also give the Commanders too much.

Score : 23-16 loss vs. Minnesota Vikings

Stat Line : 17 of 34 for 217 yards, a touchdown and an interception

The start of the 2026 campaign couldn't have gone worse after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield agreed to a three-year, $165 million contract extension just before the season began. Now, the team is sitting at 0-3 and Mayfield will miss time due to a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand.

According to The Athletic's Jayna Bardahl and Jeff Howe , Mayfield is expected to be out at least three weeks.

Prior to the injury, Mayfield was under constant duress. The Vikings sacked the Bucs' quarterback six times and hit him on 12 occasions. He's pressed all season, trying to be a playmaker, which has led to mistakes and the injury.

Upon his return, Mayfield must be smarter with his decisions and work within the structure of Tampa Bay's offensive scheme. Despite the team's awful start, no one is running away with the NFC South again.

Stat Line : 23 of 36 for 181 yards, one touchdown and an interception

Regression is a strong word when describing Cam Ward's play, because he only showed so much as a rookie.

Last year's No. 1 overall pick incrementally improved throughout his initial campaign. However, he never showed the level of play that warranted high expectations going into Year 2. His performance through the first three weeks certainly hasn't inspired hope. Instead, questions about whether he should remain QB1 were asked after Sunday's contest.

The Tennessee Titans had an opportunity to win their matchup with the New York Giants despite play poorly for the majority of the contest. On 1st-and-goal from the 7-yard line and 24 seconds left to play, Ward scrambled to his left, didn't see an underneath defender and threw an interception. He had a near-interception dropped during the Titans' first trip into the red zone.

"He needs to be smarter with the football," head coach Robert Saleh said after the game . "We had two timeouts left. ... You don't need to force it in that situation."

Stat Line : 19 of 31 for 183 yards and three touchdowns

After the disappointment from last week's loss against the Dallas Cowboys and Jayden Daniels' injury, the Washington Commanders responded against the Seattle Seahawks. Backup-turned-starter Marcus Mariota was a big reason why.

"The more that adversity hits, the more that the circumstances kind of pin us against the wall, these guys find a way," Mariota said after the game . "I'm grateful to be a part of it."
