TreVeyon Henderson Injury Updates, Latest News on Patriots RB Ahead of Week 1 vs. Seahawks

With the New England Patriots' season opener against the Seattle Seahawks looming, running back TreVeyon Henderson's status remains up in the air.

Henderson hasn't practiced in two weeks because of an ankle injury, and that didn't change on Sunday, indicating that he's leaning towards missing Week 1.

Henderson is coming off a strong rookie season in which he recorded 911 yards and nine touchdowns on 180 carries, adding 221 yards and a touchdown through the air.

Rhamondre Stevenson was the Patriots' first option in the backfield last year and presumably will be again this year. He recorded 603 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025, missing three games.

Stevenson is healthy heading into Week 1, as is second-year running back Corey Kiner, whom the Patriots acquired from the Arizona Cardinals this offseason, but the depth ends there.

Myles Montgomery is starting the year on the injured list after suffering an ailment during training camp.

ESPN's Mike Reiss noted that the Patriots could choose to bring up Lan Lairsson or Hassan Haskins from the practice squad if Henderson is not able to play on Wednesday.

Lairsson signed with the Patriots after going undrafted last year but spent the 2025 campaign on the injured reserve with a foot injury. Haskins, a fourth-round pick in 2022, spent a year with the Tennessee Titans before playing for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and 2025.

New England will hope to get Henderson back by Wednesday's game, but the team should have a few options to add some depth if he isn't ready to go. Regardless, Stevenson will shoulder the bulk of the carries as the Patriots look to get a revenge win against Seattle after losing the Super Bowl in February.
