“To make sure that our educational system is improved”: How Xavier Worthy is using his Chiefs platform to uplift Kansas City children through education, mentorship and community work

Xavier Worthy is known around Kansas City for his speed, big plays and the excitement he brings to the Chiefs. Away from game days, he has also spent time working with children, supporting education programmes and creating opportunities for young people.In April 2026, Worthy helped open the 2026 Charter School Board Draft at Arrowhead Stadium. Hosted by BLAQUE Kansas City, the event brought 15 community leaders together with 10 charter schools looking to fill open board positions. The programme gives local leaders a direct role in helping shape their schools and had placed about 50 community leaders on charter school boards since it began in 2022. How did Xavier Worthy support Kansas City’s education effort?Worthy’s role at the April 11 event was to help open the programme. The focus remained on bringing community leaders into Kansas City’s education system and giving schools stronger local representation.Kimberlyn Jones, BLAQUE Kansas City’s director of programme strategy and impact, explained the organisation’s goal:“We are unapologetically determined and driven to make sure that our educational system is improved, that our education system is represented well with the children in the community.”The event followed a draft-style format, matching community leaders with charter schools that had board openings. Worthy’s appearance brought attention to an initiative centred on students, school leadership and the people living in the communities those schools serve.His next major youth event in Kansas City put him directly in front of children.On May 30, 2026, Worthy hosted a free Dream B1G Football Camp at Southeast High School. The camp welcomed 350 children in grades 3 through 8, with participants taking part in football drills, speed training and mentorship.Worthy explained the purpose of the camp: “Just to show them there’s another way,” Worthy said. “Giving them an outlet, whether that’s football, whether that’s showing you can be good at something else How has Xavier Worthy carried that work into his foundation?Worthy’s work with young people extends beyond Kansas City through The Worthy 1’s Foundation. The organisation focuses on single mothers and youth and supports programmes involving education, financial assistance, health and wellness, mentorship and sports.His connection to the foundation is rooted in his upbringing. Worthy was raised in Fresno, California, by his mother, Nicky Jones, and the foundation identifies single mothers and young people as the centre of its mission.In July 2025, Worthy returned to Fresno for a free football camp at Edison High School, where he had played as a young athlete. His foundation said more than 400 children attended. The event included football activities, coaching and mentorship, while Worthy spoke about his own path from Fresno to the NFL.He also visited King Elementary School during the trip and spoke with students about his journey.The Fresno visit included a personal family moment as well. Worthy threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a Fresno Grizzlies game and recreated an old childhood photograph with his mother and younger sister. A silent auction and jersey raffle were also held to support his foundation’s work with youth and single-parent households.Worthy has now brought that same connection with young people into his life in Kansas City. The April education event placed him alongside community leaders working with charter schools. The May football camp put him in front of hundreds of local children. His foundation continues to focus on young people and single mothers.As a Chiefs receiver, who is still building his NFL career, Worthy is also creating a record of what he wants to give back.
