Detroit Lions provide injury update on rookie EDGE Derrick Moore

The Detroit Lions were without edge rushers Ahmed Hassanein and Derrick Moore during Wednesday's training camp practice, per Pride of Detroit .

Moore, who was one of the Lions' standouts during its second preseason game, is a second-round EDGE out of Michigan that Detroit hopes can bolster its pass rush opposite Aidan Hutchinson . The 6-foot-3, 260-pound rookie had a strip-sack fumble of Washington Commanders quarterback Sam Hartman in Detroit's 17-13 NFL preseason victory.

Per Lions head coach Dan Campbell on Thursday morning, Moore is "going to be down for a little bit." Moore missed the Lions' Thursday training camp practice, but Detroit is hopeful it can get Moore back as early as next week.

Hassanein has also been impressive in preseason action. In the Lions' preseason opener at the Cincinnati Bengals , Hassanein sacked star quarterback Joe Burrow . The 6-foot-2, 275-pounder finished with a pair of sacks and four tackles against Cincinnati.

After Campbell indicated that he expected Hassanein to miss Thursday's training camp practice, Detroit News' Richard Silva reported that Hassanein practiced on Thursday .
