Aaron Donald Drops 3-Word Message to Announce Return for Rams vs. Giants After Retirement

Aaron Donald is set to return to the field for the first time since the 2023 season.

"He's going to start in this game tomorrow night, he's going to play in a rotation," Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Sunday ahead of the Los Angeles Rams' Monday night game against the New York Giants. "He said look, 'It's go time.'"

Los Angeles could certainly use the boost along its defensive line since Myles Garrett was placed on injured reserve because of a knee injury that required surgery.

That Donald will be part of a rotation in his first game isn't particularly surprising considering how long he's been away after retiring and the reality he is 35 years old.

Still, he is one of the best defensive players in NFL history with a resume that includes a Super Bowl title, three Defensive Player of the Year awards, a Defensive Rookie of the Year, 10 Pro Bowl nods and eight First-Team All-Pro selections.

He has six seasons with double-digit sacks, including when he led the league with 20.5 in 2018.

Donald's return comes at a time when the Rams need to bounce back and get into the win column. They traveled to Australia without the future Hall of Famer and lost their season opener to the division-rival San Francisco 49ers 27-7. The 49ers were in full control throughout the contest and now have a head-to-head advantage in the division race.

The Giants won't be a pushover like in years past, as they are coming off an impressive 28-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Quarterback Jaxson Dart was excellent while going 23-of-29 passing for 230 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions to go with 54 yards on the ground. Running back Cam Skattebo added 81 yards and a touchdown on the ground as well.

Donald's presence should help the Rams slow that rushing attack and make life more difficult for Dart than it was against the Cowboys.

If it does, Los Angeles could get back on track in the early going.
