Eagles star TE named fitting trade piece for Seahawks to pursue
The Seahawks may need more muscle in their receiving game, which Goedert may be able to give them in their quest to contend for another Super Bowl.
The Seattle Seahawks may strengthen their chances of defending their Super Bowl title by pursuing a trade for Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert, whose experience and receiving skills figure to give the offense another proven weapon in the receiving game.
Sports Illustrated named Goedert as being one of 15 players most likely to be traded by the deadline this year, and listed the Seahawks as being a fit for him in the trade market.
"Rumors have suggested the Eagles might move off Goedert as he's aged and dealt with injuries, missing at least three games in four of the past five years," Sports Illustrated's Matt Verderame said. "Yet, Goedert has held on, and now might be the time for Philadelphia to cut ties. Goedert is 31 years old and hasn't had 600 yards since the 2022 season. He won't bring a premium, but Goedert is a useful player with a ton of postseason experience."
Goedert has been a productive tight end throughout his NFL career, as he's led with reliable hands, physicality and the ability to gain yards after the catch. His established track record makes him an appealing option for Seattle as it looks to keep its championship window open for years to come. His current season statistics — 17 receptions for 180 receiving yards and two REC touchdowns — provide a clearer picture of his production and potential value in a trade.
Seattle's need for depth is highlighted by AJ Barner's 15 receptions for 138 yards through six games this season, with no touchdowns. Elijah Arroyo being out due to injury further strengthens the case for adding an experienced tight end who is capable of contributing immediately.
Goedert's championship pedigree also makes him an intriguing option. A Super Bowl champion with Philadelphia, he understands what is required to win in the postseason. For Seattle, acquiring a veteran with that experience may give the team a meaningful boost as it pursues back-to-back Super Bowl titles this season. Any potential trade will hinge on the Eagles' willingness to part with Goedert and the Seahawks' assessment of the cost, but his combination of production, experience and postseason success makes him a logical target to pursue.
