Dak Prescott Says Cowboys' NFC East Title Hopes Are 'Right in Front of Us' After Win vs. Eagles

Despite a rough start to the season for the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott is feeling optimistic about their chances in the NFC East after a 38-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.
Speaking to reporters following the Cowboys' win, Prescott said their hopes for an NFC East title are "right in front of us" if they keep taking care of business:
"We say the division's right in front of us. It is as long as we win. And if you lose another game, then you're probably checking to see what New York's doing. You're probably checking and watching the other teams more than we should. So yeah, I mean you got to win games, got to win division games. How big of a game this was, understanding how much they're hurt on their offensive side, yeah, huge road win for us."
The Cowboys' formula for success this season was supposed to be a dominant offense and an improved defense that might not be among the NFL's elite, but wouldn't be at the bottom in several categories like it was in 2025.
That hadn't panned out through the first six games. The offense had been inconsistent, including scoring 29 points in their previous two games combined, and the defense was still getting picked apart.
Monday night is hard to gauge as a litmus test because the Eagles are so beat up right now, but the Cowboys winning as impressively as they did is what a team with playoff aspirations should do against an inferior opponent.
The Cowboys set season-highs in points scored, total yards (416) and rushing yards (204).
This victory was significant because it snapped Dallas' two-game losing streak and gave the team 2-1 against the NFC East. The lone defeat was in Week 1 against the Giants, who are currently in first place and riding high after J.J. McCarthy led a win over the Houston Texans.
New York (4-2-1) is two games up on the Cowboys with a head-to-head victory already in the bank. The two teams have six common opponents remaining, including the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.
That doesn't include the second matchup between the Giants and Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Week 17.
Dallas is set up to potentially make a move after defeating the Eagles because its next two games are home against the Arizona Cardinals and at the Indianapolis Colts.
The Giants are on a bye in Week 8 before back-to-back divisional games against the Eagles and Washington Commanders.
