Myles Garrett to reportedly undergo knee surgery, miss at least 4 weeks after struggling in Week 1 loss

The Los Angeles Rams will be without star pass rusher Myles Garrett for at least the next four weeks due to knee surgery, according to NFL Network.

Garrett, who the team acquired in a blockbuster deal with the Cleveland Browns in the offseason, will reportedly undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee and will be placed on injured reserve.

The hope is that Garrett will be able to return in four weeks. Garrett previously missed time in training camp with an injury to his left knee, though he did play in the team's Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers .

Garrett wasn't himself in that contest. The reigning Defensive Player of the Year failed to notch a sack or a tackle in the 27-7 loss to the 49ers .

After the contest, Garrett admitted he needed to recover and "get back to the player I know I can be."

The development is a massive blow for the Rams, which gave up Jared Verse and multiple draft picks in exchange for Garrett in the offseason. The star pass rusher was expected to play a massive role in the Rams' push for a Super Bowl this season, and was a big reason former star Aaron Donald came out of retirement to join the Rams for another year.

Garrett still has plenty of time left to be a difference maker for the Rams this season. As long as he doesn't sustain any setbacks, it shouldn't be long before the Rams are fully operational. If they can remain that way late in the season, the team could still live up to its billing as one of the premier contenders to win it all.
