Davante Adams leaves Rams' late loss to Cardinals due to apparent knee injury
Davante Adams pulled up awkwardly in the end zone and immediately reached for his left knee.
The Los Angeles Rams lost wide receiver Davante Adams during the final stretch of their loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday .
Adams, on the Rams' final drive of the contest, suddenly pulled up and started hopping in the back of the end zone. He reached for his left knee as play went the other way, and he eventually limped off the field to the sideline.
Adams did not return to the game. Further specifics of his injury are not yet known.
The Rams did end up scoring a touchdown on that drive. Matthew Stafford found tight end Colby Parkinson for a 6-yard score. But the Cardinals, with just 47 seconds left, made it all the way down the field to set up a game-winning, 43-yard field goal from Chad Ryland as time expired. They were aided by an unnecessary roughness penalty on Josh Wallace.
Adams finished with three catches for 39 yards and was targeted four times in the 18-16 loss. He has 441 yards and four touchdowns on 27 catches this season, his second with the Rams.
While it's unclear how long Adams will be sidelined, if at all, the injury comes amid a tough stretch for a team that many thought would run the table and win the Super Bowl entering the season.
The Rams fell to 2-4 with the loss, their second straight. The Cardinals are just 2-4, too, but they had lost four straight entering Sunday's contest at SoFi Stadium and have yet to win a game on their home field.
Losing Adams for any significant stretch will undoubtedly make it that much more difficult for Stafford and the Rams' offense to turn things around after this rough start.
