Dak Prescott Addresses Throwing Ball Away Near George Pickens Late in Cowboys' Loss to Ravens

Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott raised some eyebrows with a throwaway in crunch time during Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL Rio Game.

With the Cowboys facing third-and-goal with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter while trailing 31-28, star receiver George Pickens appeared to get open near the pylon, but Prescott already fired the ball past him before he got his head around. After the loss, Prescott admitted to reporters that he was throwing the ball away but should have been more patient to get the ball to Pickens.

Despite Prescott's disappointment in himself, head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters that he taught the signal-caller to throw the ball away in that situation.

Prescott was asked about Schottenheimer's direction on the play, but he chose not to get into those details. He said that Pickens was open, and he should have sat on his throw to go for a touchdown.

"Definitely not right now, maybe in a week," he told reporters . "Still fresh, just upset."

Prescott went 25-of-40 for 276 yards and a touchdown in a solid performance, but the Ravens were able to set up Tyler Loop's game-winning 56-yard field goal with one second left on the clock.

The Cowboys fell to 1-2 with the loss. Prescott and Dallas will try to bounce back when they meet the Houston Texans (0-3) in Week 4.
