NFL expected to suspend Rams LT Alaric Jackson 2 games for postgame punch of Bradley Chubb after 'Monday Night Football'
The incident took place on the field after Buffalo’s 37-34 overtime win at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles.
The NFL is expected to suspend Los Angeles Rams left tackle Alaric Jackson for two games after he punched Bills linebacker Bradley Chubb in the face in the aftermath of "Monday Night Football," according to multiple reports.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the league had not yet notified the Rams or the NFLPA of Jackson's pending suspension as of the time of Tuesday's report.
The incident took place on the field after Buffalo's 37-34 overtime win at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles on Monday. Jackson was exchanging his jersey with a Bills player when Chubb said something to Jackson and pointed at him from a distance.
Chubb turned around and walked away after his comment. Jackson followed Chubb, and the two exchanged words. Jackson then punched Chubb in the face. ESPN cameras recorded the incident during its postgame coverage.
The suspension leaves the Rams without a key player during a critical juncture of their season.
A Rams team that entered the season as the favorite to win the Super Bowl fell to 2-3 with the loss and will now play its next two games without its most important offensive lineman. Backup David Quessenberry is a candidate to replace Jackson at left tackle, protecting Matthew Stafford's blindside.
The Rams have upcoming games against the Arizona Cardinals and Las Vegas Raiders that Jackson would miss, per the terms of the reported suspension.
Against the Raiders, the Rams would be up against five-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Maxx Crosby. Against the Cardinals, they'll face former Pro Bowler Josh Sweat, who tallied a career-high 12 sacks last season.
