Hoosiers Daily News: How the Big Ten’s new rule barring pros affects Indiana football

The Big Ten recently passed a new rule that effectively bans players in professional leagues such as the NFL from returning to play for member institutions. Does this have any impact on Indiana football ?

Indiana made the move in recent weeks to add both Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt , members of the Hoosiers' 2025 defensive line, back onto the roster when they became eligible for fifth seasons of college football following a court ruling in Colorado . That ruling has since been halted by a federal appeals court, with Daley and Wyatt losing said eligibility.

Daley and Wyatt would in all likelihood need cases at the state level to return to Indiana this season, but the Big Ten's new rule doesn't affect them. Both suffered season-ending injuries last year and received little NFL interest as a result, let alone were drafted or signed contracts.

In short, the rule really doesn't affect Indiana at all.
