Sean McVay's Trade Value Addressed by Rams GM After Being Asked How Many Picks HC is Worth

Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead has no interest in trading head coach Sean McVay.

"If I could write on this whiteboard here, I would write, 'There's no trade for Sean McVay,'" he said during an interview with 60 Minutes .

When pressed if he would give up his head coach for three first-round picks, he said he wouldn't even "pull the trigger" for four or five.

While it is typically players and draft picks included in trades in the NFL, there is some precedent for a coach trade. The Denver Broncos traded a first- and second-round draft pick to the New Orleans Saints for head coach Sean Payton and a third-round pick in 2023.

At the time, Payton had stepped away from coaching but still had two years remaining on his contract with the Saints and wanted to return to the NFL sidelines.

Given that as a baseline, trading McVay for four or five first-round picks might be an ideal investment for the Rams. However, Snead made it clear it's not something he would even consider.

Perhaps that shouldn't be so surprising given McVay's track record.

In nine years as the head coach in Los Angeles, the NFC West team has been to the Super Bowl twice, won a Lombardi Trophy and been to the playoffs seven times. The Rams have more NFC Championship Game appearances (three) than seasons missing the playoffs (two) under McVay's leadership.

They are once again positioned to challenge for a Lombardi Trophy this season with a star-studded roster that includes Matthew Stafford, Myles Garrett, Puka Nacua, Davante Adams and Aaron Donald, among others.

And they will have a coach worth more than a handful of first-round draft picks in the general manager's eyes leading the way.
