New York Giants linebacker Tremaine Edmunds will miss the remainder of the 2026 season with a shoulder injury, The Athletic's Dan Duggan reports .

Edmunds was already listed as out for Week 7's matchup with the Houston Texans. However, he is apparently dealing with a torn muscle extending to his chest, according to ESPN's Jordan Ranaan .

The injury occurred late in the Giants' 34-27 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 6. Reaching with his left arm attempting to tackle Saints running back Kendre Miller, Edmunds stayed down on the field after the play.

Edmunds, 28, was in his first season with the Giants. He signed a three-year, $36 million deal in March, days after the Chicago Bears released him to create $15 million in salary cap space.

In six games, Edmunds compiled 50 total tackles with 2 sacks and 3 tackles for loss as the Giants' defensive playcaller. He appeared to be on his way to a ninth consecutive season recording 100 or more tackles, averaging 129 per year.

Edmunds was a Pro Bowl selection in 2019 and 2020 with the Buffalo Bills, who made him their 2018 first-round pick (No. 16 overall) out of Virginia Tech.

Micah McFadden is expected to replace Edmunds at one of the Giants' inside linebacker spots alongside rookie (and first-round pick) Arvell Reese. McFadden, 26, has appeared in five games this season, recording 4 tackles. He started at inside linebacker in 2023 and 2024, averaging 104 tackles per season.

Edmunds' injury further erodes the Giants' depth at linebacker. Edge rusher Chauncey Golsteon will also miss the remainder of the season with a neck injury. Fellow edge Brian Burns tore his ACL in Week 3's 12-7 win over the Tennessee Titans.
