Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star player, and his wife, Brittany Mahomes, have been successful business partners for quite a while now. Ahead of the new season, it seems their investment in the NWSL team, the Kansas City Current, which has reached a valuation of $325 million has marked another multi million milestone.Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes’ Kansas City Current raises multi million dollar investment from the cityA few days ago, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes’ Kansas City Current was successful at getting a $235 million funding package approved from the city to expand their stadium and entertainment district.For the unversed, the Kansas City Current built the stadium with their own funding and had not taken it from anywhere else. When the stadium turned out to be successful, it seems the city stepped in with funding to make it bigger.As per reports, the funding will be used to add 6,500 more seats to their stadium increasing the capacity to 18,000.But that’s not all; a parking garage will also be built and more mixed-use development in the Current Landing district.Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas weighed in on it as, “I think it's going to continue to help us build out the riverfront in Kansas City long term…It is impressive that you have a team that invested not only in women's sports, but in an area of the city that was underinvested largely, that they have seen this level of success and that they're continuing to see expansion long term.”The Kansas City Current’s co-owners, Angie and Chris Long,also opened up about it in a statement which read as, “Today’s decision reflects Kansas City’s belief in bold ideas and transformational projects…We are proud to continue investing in Kansas City’s future and grateful for the partnership that makes this next chapter possible.”The statement added, “The success of the Current and the Riverfront benefit our entire community, and we are honored to help create a lasting legacy for a city that has given so much to us.”While neither Patrick Mahomes nor his wife, Brittany Mahomes, reacted to it, they have remained closely associated with the Kansas City Current.Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes remain dedicated to the Kansas City CurrentFor the unversed, it was Brittany Mahomes who invested in the Kansas City Current in 2020 initially.Three years later, in 2023, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star player Patrick Mahomes followed his wife’s footsteps and also invested in the team.Both of them have often spoken about how they have remained dedicated to the NWSL team as they are often spotted cheering them on.For now, Patrick Mahomes’ focus remains on the new season as he prepares to make a comeback.Get the latest Sports News and Live updates.
