Tony Romo guilty of OWI in Milwaukee, will have license revoked for 6 months

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS NFL analyst Tony Romo on Tuesday, Sept. 1, pleaded no contest to an operating while intoxicated citation tied to his late July arrest in Milwaukee and will have his driving privileges revoked for six months.

Three other pending forfeitures against Romo were dismissed, online court records show. Romo's plea comes just days after a spokesperson for him told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and other media outlets that Romo "accepts full responsibility for his actions."

In addition to having his license suspended for six months, Romo must pay a $748 fine by Nov. 2.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office arrested Romo July 23 after a deputy pulled him over on southbound Interstate 43 and he performed poorly on a field sobriety test . Romo, a Burlington native, was in the area to participate in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship golf event in West Bend and told the deputy that he was driving to a family member's house after the event concluded.

Police originally cited Romo for refusing to take an intoxication test after his arrest . On Aug. 27, he received additional citations for first-offense operating while intoxicated , unsafe passing on the right side and possessing open intoxicants in his vehicle.

Following his arrest, CBS placed Romo on leave until further notice.
