The Philadelphia Eagles are turning to Joe Milton as their starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the New York Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo .

Philly is hopeful Milton can help snap a six-game losing skid before the team heads into its Week 10 bye.

The third-year signal-caller has thrown for 424 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in five NFL appearances.

Milton has long drawn praise for his raw tools but lacked the accuracy to be a consistent starter in college. The fact he's on his third pro team illustrates how his game hasn't evolved much.

According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer , the Eagles think Milton's mobility can be an asset against the Giants.

If nothing else, they know Tanner McKee isn't the answer with Jalen Hurts potentially sidelined for the remainder of the year. In his three starts after replacing Hurts, McKee had 638 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, and he completed 63.2 percent of his passes.

The Eagles are going nowhere fast. They have the worst record in the NFC (2-6), and Hurts' absence means there's little hope of dramatically improving the rest of the way.

Maybe Milton isn't much better than McKee as the starter. There's no real downside to giving him a shot.
