Commanders' Nick Cross Released from Hospital After Internal Injury vs. Cowboys

Washington Commanders safety Nick Cross was hospitalized after the team's loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Per Nick Jhabvala of The Athletic, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Cross was evaluated for an internal injury following the game. He was discharged Monday morning and is on the way back to Virginia.

Quinn did not offer many other details about Cross' injury and did not say whether he would be available for the Commanders' Week 3 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Cross has been a key contributor for Washington through the early stages of the season, logging 11 tackles, which is tied for third-most on the team, and three tackles for loss, the most of any Commanders defender.

Washington has started the year 0-2 after a Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and Sunday's loss to the Cowboys, and things won't get any easier this week as it takes on the defending Super Bowl champs.

Cross isn't the only key player dealing with an injury this week, as quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a dislocated left elbow in the loss. It's unclear when Daniels will be back on the field, but backup quarterback Marcus Mariota is expected to start against the Seahawks this week.

Daniels has collected 260 passing yards, 100 rushing yards and three touchdowns through two games, though he didn't play in the second half against the Cowboys.

The Commanders are looking to get back to the playoffs after going 5-12 a year ago, but a 0-2 start plus early injuries is going to make that very difficult.
