Odell Beckham Jr. signs with NFL contender in Week 9
Odell Beckham Jr. is back on an NFL team's active roster after securing another opportunity to continue his career.
Odell Beckham Jr. has secured another opportunity to continue his NFL career after returning to the league earlier this season. The veteran wide receiver is now set for a bigger role with a team that has ambitions of making a deep postseason run.
Beckham previously joined the Minnesota Vikings after a brief stint with the New York Giants. His latest move gives him a chance to become a more permanent part of Minnesota's offense.
Vikings promote Odell Beckham Jr. to 53-man roster
The Vikings are signing Beckham to their 53-man roster (h/t Tom Pelissero of The Ringer).
The 34-year-old receiver initially joined Minnesota's practice squad in October. He now has a place on the active roster as the Vikings prepare for their Week 9 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Beckham played a limited role during his three-game return to New York, recording no catches on just one target before the Giants released him.
Minnesota offered him another opportunity, partly because of his previous relationship with head coach Kevin O'Connell. The two worked together with the Los Angeles Rams during their Super Bowl-winning 2021 campaign.
Beckham gets another chance to revive his NFL career
Beckham's move to the active roster gives him a clearer path to contributing to the Vikings' offense. His experience could prove useful as Minnesota looks to maintain its position among the NFC's contenders.
The receiver has previously played for the Giants, Cleveland Browns, Rams, Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. His most successful stretch came in New York, where he quickly established himself as one of the league's most recognizable receivers.
However, injuries and inconsistent production have affected the later stages of his career.
His promotion to the 53-man roster gives him another opportunity to prove he still has something to offer at the highest level.
