Jets Record 2 INTs vs. Steelers After Making NFL History with Zero Picks During 2025-26 Season

The New York Jets defense had more success picking off passes in one preseason game than they did all of last season.

The Jets picked off the Pittsburgh Steelers twice during Friday night's preseason action after becoming the first team since at least 1933 to go a full season without an interception.

The picks were thrown by Steelers quarterback Will Howard on back-to-back drives during the second quarter.

The first interception came at the Jets' 14-yard line, when Howard tried to find Roman Wilson on a short pass that was picked off by the Jets' Andre Cisco.

On the following drive at the Jets' 37-yard line, Howard again tried to find Wilson for a short pass and was picked off by Samuel Womack.

It's been almost exactly a year since the Jets last recorded an interception when Malachi Moore picked off an overthrown pass from Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Kyle McCord on Aug. 22, 2025.

Jets cornerback Nahshon Wright said earlier this offseason he didn't think the team's lack of interceptions last season had been brought up in meetings, per NyJets.com's Jack Bell .

"I think 2025 was 2025 and I think we're trying to turn over a new leaf, so we haven't spoken about it at all," Wright said, per Bell.

The Jets will now hope to build on Friday's defensive performance when opening the regular season Sept. 13 against the Tennessee Titans.
