Tennessee Titans: Lose Promising Rookie for at Least 4 Games

The Tennessee Titans' offensive line took a major blow in Week 3 against the New York Giants , with two players suffering injuries. Starting right guard Fernando Carmona suffered an ankle sprain on the very first snap of the game. Backup Jackson Slater injured his foot, which Robert Saleh described as "significant," despite finishing the game in Carmona's place.

According to Jim Wyatt of the team's website, the Titans have placed Fernando Carmona and Jackson Slater on injured reserve. Carmona will miss at least the next four games, while Slater will likely be sidelined longer. In addition, Tennessee promoted RB Michael Carter and G Garrett Dellinger to the active roster.

Atonio Mafi and Garrett Dellinger are currently the two leading in-house candidates to take over as the starting right guard. Mafi spent 2023 and the 2024 offseason with the Patriots, the rest of 2024 with the Colts, and the 2025 training camp and the 2026 offseason with the Raiders, and has started seven games. Dellinger spent his rookie season with the Ravens, Browns, and Titans before Tennessee released him during roster cuts, and he re-signed with the practice squad.
