New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn isn't in imminent danger of losing his job with the team sitting at 2-5, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler .

Graziano reported his sense is that Glenn will remain in the role for the remainder of the 2026 NFL season, after which ownership and the front office will make an evaluation.

Fowler wrote that "Glenn likely will get some time to attempt to right the ship, but the hot seat conversation is real."

The Jets are situated well with three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL draft. Few expected them to be a big winner this year, so from the outset, the season was about setting the table for the future.

According to Graziano, that's the basis on which Glenn will mostly be judged:

"What the Jets want to have established by the end of this season is at least a foundation of a winning culture and an environment in which a young quarterback would be in position to quickly thrive and be happy. It's hard to look at the Jets right now and think they're on either one of those tracks. There is time to turn it around, but if it keeps going the way it has so far, this is absolutely a situation we'll be watching for a potential change."

Fowler ended the conversation by saying it's unlikely the Jets would kick general manager Darren Mougey to the curb in the offseason since he has done well to build up their draft assets.

There are some encouraging signs from the team.

Braelon Allen has anchored the backfield with Breece Hall injured. He eclipsed the century mark for the second time in the 28-25 loss to the Miami Dolphins.

David Bailey is tied for fifth in the league in sacks with 5.5. Fellow rookies Kenyon Sadiq and Omar Cooper Jr. have shown flashes.

But New York has yet to win a game within the division under Glenn. By now, fans have probably seen the stat about how badly the team is getting outscored in the final two minutes as well.

There's arguably more evidence in favor of firing Glenn than retaining him, but a coaching change wouldn't achieve much. The Jets aren't a playoff-caliber team, and whoever succeeds Glenn would be an interim replacement rather than a coach who may guide the team in 2027 and beyond.

Maybe the situation continues to devolve to a point where Glenn absolutely has to go. Otherwise, giving him the rest of the season might be the best call.
