Baker Mayfield and the Bucs have gotten off to fast starts over the past three seasons. Joe Burrow and the Bengals want to change that in this afternoon's regular-season opener in Cincinnati.

While Mayfield is 3-0 in Week 1 since arriving in Tampa Bay in 2023, Burrow and the Bengals have often stumbled out of the gate. Cincinnati is 2-4 in openers since Burrow was the top overall pick out of LSU in the 2020 draft.

Mayfield enters today's game with nine touchdowns, no interceptions and a 114.5 passer rating in Week 1 games during his Tampa Bay tenure. He is also mostly free of distractions after signing a $165 million, three-year extension that keeps him with the Bus through 2029.

Mayfield is facing a new-look Bengals defense that features Dexter Lawrence , Jonathan Allen , and Boye Mafe on the defensive line, as well as Bryan Cook at safety.
