Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ruled out after he went to the locker room with an injury to his throwing hand during his first offensive snap of Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Evan Washburn of CBS Sports provided an update, including a close-up look at the injured thumb:

For the season, the two-time NFL MVP has completed 70.8 percent of his passes for 967 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. He's also rushed for 144 yards and one more score.

Jackson has missed his team's last three full games (Weeks 5-7 against the Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals) due to a left high ankle sprain suffered against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4 .

There was hope Jackson could play against Cincinnati. He was listed as questionable and provided an encouraging report on Oct. 22, two days before the game.

"Right now, I'm headed in the right direction," Jackson told reporters after Friday's practice. "I can't call it right now, still got a grace period, so we'll see, man, hopefully. But I feel like I'm heading in the right direction right now."

Jackson was ultimately ruled out, but his return appeared imminent.

Without Jackson, the Ravens have turned to Tyler "Snoop" Huntley, who has played six of his seven NFL seasons with Baltimore and made 14 starts in Jackson's place.
