Titans' $28 Ticket Price In Honor of Chris Johnson to Benefit ALS Research Revealed

The Tennessee Titans are honoring former running back Chris Johnson, who revealed in June he was diagnosed with ALS, with a ticket promotion that will generate money for research into the disease.

Tennessee announced Wednesday that 2,000 tickets for its Sept. 13 opener against the New York Jets will be available for $28 each. Johnson wore No. 28 when he played for the Titans.

Five dollars from each ticket sale will be donated to the Vanderbilt ALS Research Center.

Johnson publicly announced his diagnosis in June during an appearance on Good Morning America .

"There's no history of ALS in my family," he told Michael Strahan. "My doctors believe my case is what's called sporadic ALS, which is actually how the vast majority of ALS cases happen. That's one of the reasons this disease can be so shocking. It can happen to someone who never expected it."

Shortly after the interview aired, Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk released a statement:

"We will support Chris every step of the way throughout his journey," the statement said, in part. "We are holding him and his family close, and join our fans around the world in expressing our love for Chris."

The Titans selected Johnson with a first-round pick in the 2008 NFL draft. He played his first six seasons for the team and ran for more than 1,000 yards in each of them.

He was a three-time Pro Bowler during that span and even led the league with 2,006 rushing yards during the 2009 campaign.

Johnson then played for the Jets and the Arizona Cardinals during his final four seasons.
