ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky has revealed that his brother-in-law, Federico "Fed" Lascano , died unexpectedly, leaving behind his wife and three young sons.
The former NFL quarterback, 43, shared the heartbreaking news on X on Thursday, October 15, explaining that his sister, Christine , is now facing the challenges of raising her children without her husband.
"This weekend, our family experienced an unimaginable tragedy," Orlovsky wrote, revealing that Lascano had died over the weekend.
The couple, who had been together since college, shared three sons: Brayden , 18, Cameron , 16, and Colton , 11.
Orlovsky explained that the sudden loss has left his sister confronting both emotional and financial uncertainty, prompting him to share a GoFundMe campaign to support the family.
"In the midst of trying to process this devastating loss, my sister is now facing the overwhelming reality of navigating life as a solo parent and a single-income household, all while helping her boys cope with the loss of their dad," he wrote.
According to the fundraiser, Lascano had been the family's primary financial provider, and donations will help Christine cover everyday expenses, including groceries, household bills and other necessities while she and her sons grieve.
Any remaining money will be placed in a fund to help with the boys' education and future essential expenses.
Orlovsky also urged those unable to contribute financially to share the fundraiser or keep his family in their thoughts.
"No family should have to face this kind of heartbreak, and no one should have to worry about how they will manage financially while trying to put the pieces of their lives back together," he wrote.
The cause of Lascano's death has not been publicly disclosed.
The announcement prompted an outpouring of condolences from across the football community, including former NFL quarterback Brian Hoyer , who wrote , "Sorry for your family's loss Dan."

He concluded his message by thanking those who had rallied around his family.
"Our family is heartbroken, but we are so grateful for the love and support surrounding them during this unimaginable time," he wrote.
